Play Date

Today was a busy day:) After packing up the diaper bag last night for a play date (to occur today), I was feeling like I was getting a pretty good start on the day. In theory, all I would need to do in the morning would be get myself ready, feed the kids, and dress the kids. Well, I got up okay, got the kids ready (read "We're Different, We're the Same" for the millionth time), fed them and actually looked like we might make our 10:30am play date on time when Daddy called to say we needed to stop by his office "on the way" to Anna's (its only about a 20min out of the way round trip).

Regardless, we got to Anna's and within 5 seconds I lost Matt. Yes, I lost my son. I put him on the ground, and he disappeared. I'm running around like a lunatic checking the street, the back yard-- everywhere... but no matt. After about 3 minutes which felt like an eternity, I ran up to Anna's house to see if she had taken Matt inside (I was nearing the hysterics at this point)-- she simply said "Nicole, he's in the car". Jeez, did I feel dumb. Matt had run around the car and gotten in through Kayla's sliding door. The whole time I was looking for him, he was playing with the steering wheel. Stinker :)

So, I carried both the kids inside (to be sure not to lose either one), and we started playing. Caleb and Charity (Caleb's mom) were also over, so we had a full house. The whole morning was pretty much spent refereeing the toys and trying to be fair-- the moms did get some time to chat. It’s difficult to have a play group when everyone MUST have the one desired toy, but it all worked out pretty good. No major injuries occurred, and only a few pacifiers and sippy cups were shared (kids share the things they're not supposed to with ease).

The way home was fun... the kids have decided they don't transfer sleeping anymore (which means if they fall asleep in the car- they will not stay asleep or go back to sleep at home) so I needed to keep them up (it was already 2 1/2 hours past nap time). Kayla screamed the whole way home for her pacifier and Matt cried quite pathetically.

We made it home, they napped (and are still asleep), I napped (thank you mono). Life is fun!

I'm off to clean :)
