"just another manic Monday"
Just another crazy day in the life of the Webber fam. We've had quite a few blog worthy events the past few days. I'll just hit the highlights, for your laughing pleasures (our pain, is your gain).
First, the mystery has been solved. For a few weeks Kayla has been swatting peoples butts and saying “I spak butt”. This was an interesting statement for a child to say that has never been spanked. We figured she must have seen it on TV or something (we don’t even threaten spanking). Anyway, long story short, she’s now saying it more clearly, and it turns out that she was saying “I got butt”… we’re always saying we “got her” arm/leg or whatever and apparently she’s coupled that with playful swats on the butt. Still embarrassing when she does it to people—but now at least explainable. In similar news Matt put his teddy bear in time out the other day—he was mad that daddy made him stop jumping on his bed- and took it out on the bear… “No, no—you go out!” he said to the bear.
Now for the interesting stuff…
Yesterday, my husband, whom I dearly love, did something not so out of the ordinary-- he left a door open. Matt and Kayla got into an argument ending in Matt scratching Kayla's eyelid (lower lid)-- I saw the blood drops and thought they were actually coming from her eye-- so in a hurry I rushed her over to the sink to rinse her eye and determine damages. Well, I was going to do that except I instead ran into the open dishwasher door and fell smack on top of it while holding Kayla. Needless to say, our dishwasher is broke (hopefully temporarily) Kayla was okay, and I have many bruises and sore muscles. I think it may be a few days before Peter leaves another door open. I guess the good news is that at least I have a husband who knows how to load the dishwasher
Today's highlight has by far been during my shower. I was gone for less than 10 minutes threw on clothes and was so happy the kids had made it without any arguing or screaming. Amazed at the silence (as a quiet Barney was on in the distance) I went to check on my little angels before blow drying my hair. I get to the playroom to find that the kids are gone. I run outside (as the sliding door is cracked open-- previously shut and dead bolted) and find them a few minutes later in the van with a set of toy keys, and a set of house keys that they had located in the vehicle. Thankfully no one was hurt-- although I'm sure they would argue otherwise after sitting in time out for five minutes. Peter’s picking up a tension rod for the top of the door to prevent future escapes.
Well, that's about it for now. Unless you count the fact that Matt now regularly climbs on top of his dresser in the mornings and after naps. Why?- you may wonder-- so he can lotion himself before we come in and get him.
We just got home from the park (I'm attempting to positively channel the climbing energy into the great outdoors)-- and now they're in their big kid beds-- actually I think they're "bouncin"-- so I'm off. The adventures never cease :)
Taken at the park this afternoon-- too much was going on to sit an smile-- so this was the best mom could do ;) We're really looking forward to the warmer weather though.
