The Kam Fam Returns

Cappy, (grandma) Sue, Mark, Dan and Jillian returned from Australia this morning. The kids were SO excited to be picking them up from the airport (they missed their LA connection due to a fog delay in Sydney- making them arrive at 7:30 this morning, opposed to 1:00am last night). When I woke them up to tell them where we were going they both bolted to the door. They chatted to my family the whole way home, and were happy to eat breakfast with them.

The kids got lots of 'prizes' from the trip-- you would have thought it was Christmas. They're both in their new shirts (matt's also got his hat on) and kayla's carrying around her new purse with some of the Australian animals they got. (and that's not even all of it). Lucky kids! I'm happy to have them home too, it's amazing how many time I went to call one of them over the week period that we were home from our vacation, but they were still gone.

Anyway, today's supposed to be stinking hot, so I'm gonna stay in most of the day (I LOVE air conditioning!). I'm also continuing with the potty training thing... we're doing okay-- but I'm anxious to get over this beginning stage.

Potty Training Sucks

Just sitting here waiting for the past 15 mins for matt to go 'potty' so we can leave for target. We've decided to aggresively potty train matt and kayla (as they've both been able to go when they want to for awhile now- kayla's been 'partially trained for almost a year). Anyway, the savings of 60+ bucks a month would help too. However, with two at the same time I'm thinking the money savings might not be worth it ;) We'll get there somehow or another... hopefully before peter and i are driven crazy or abort the mission.

Home again, home again

We're back :) We had a great vacation in Charlevoix and Mackinaw Island last week. We left for our trip Monday at about 10:45pm. Failing in our attempt to successfully transfer our sleeping kids to the car they stayed up the entire 4 1/2 hours there. The first 3 1/2 hour they were silent, probably trying to figure out what the heck we were doing with them-- second hour wasn't so good. Lets just say they decided to try making the popping noise (that Donkey in "shrek II" makes on his carriage ride) for about an hour-- cute and funny at first-- extremely irritating after 5 mins. The way home was also a bit of a nightmare, but what can you do.

We enjoyed watching the boats from our condo, walking through town and on the harbor, going to the beach once (Matt HATES sand), and swimming in the pool at Charlevoix. We spent two days at Mackinaw biking around the island (wow, were we sore) and walking through town and seeing the fort. Overall, a very nice and low key trip. Just what we needed.

The first week after a vacation is often quite hard-- so I'm trying to fit in some more fun activities for me and the kids (we'll probably go swimming w/ my grandma on Wednesday- zoo "wild nights" wed night and some playdates for the week).
