2 Months Today!

It's hard to believe it's been two months since Julie's birth. Feels like forever ago and yesterday at the same time (I know I've said this before, but it's true). The kids are loving their little sister, especially since she can smile back at her big brother and sister. Kayla still LOVES to hold her baby!

For the picture lovers, here's some recent ones of Matt, Kayla and Julie 'Grandma Sue Peanut' (the baby's name according to M + K).

An Apple A Day...?

The past two months our family has visited the doctor's more than in the past two years. Starting with the birth of Julie (during which I had a terrible sinus infection and virus) her one week visit, and two and three week weight checks-- one month visit, Matt sick, Matt sick, Kayla sick-- and today's two month visit and Peter's visit today (for a bad virus). That's 10 times in two months (that doesn't even count my 2 follow-up visits with the midwife)-- thank God for the low co-pay, else we'd be moving right about now :)

Julie had two shots today, so she's not the happiest camper -- but aside from that she's growin' great :) Still lean and long-- but very healthy. Peter is sleeping off his virus right now, in hopes that he'll feel better tonight and for work tomorrow. Matt and Kayla seem to be feeling better-- and are really needing the weather to warm up so they can run out some of their energy.

I'm off to hold a fussy baby. I'll try to update more later.

Babies (and kids) Don't Keep

It's busy as usual here. I've had a long week with Matt and Kayla both having sinus infections (makes for more interesting days, that's for sure). I found this poem in someone's blog (can't even remember who's) and really related to how I feel with the kids. I'm pretty sure they won't remember that the floors weren't always vacuumed, and dishes always done, but they may remember me sitting on the ground to play games... so here's the poem for you to enjoy (author unknown). And please excuse my home if you visit anytime soon :)

Babies Don't Keep
Mother, of Mother, come shake out your cloth
empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
hang out the washing and butter the bread,
sew on a button and make up a bed.

Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She's up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.

Oh, I've grown shiftless as Little Boy Blue
(lullaby, rockabye, lullaby loo).
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
(pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo).

The shopping's not done and there's nothing for stew
and out in the yard there's a hullabaloo
but I'm playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
Look! Aren't her eyes the most wonderful hue?
(lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).

The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,
for children grow up, as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.

Kayla's Baby

Quick story-- cause I'm crazy busy here trying to make the most out of nap time.

This morning I was getting Matt dressed while Kayla finished breakfast and the baby was swinging in the swing. I was talking to Anna on the phone about possible weekend plans as I changed Matt (now that's multi-tasking). Anyway, I heard the baby fussing (the run of the mill, I wish I was being held cry)- nothing major though. She stopped fussing a couple minutes before I finished changing Matt. I turned around to see Kayla standing in the door holding Julie upright. I calmly asked Anna to hold on, as I briskly walked towards Kayla. I grabbed the baby from her, and told her she shouldn't pick the baby up without mom's help-- she said, "she was crying, and I wanted to hold it". How do ya argue with that ;) So far today, we've reviewed the 'Julie baby' rules a few times, but Kayla's quite convinced that she's "me baby" and she can do what she wants with her. Julie appears to be unharmed and actually seemed content as Kayla was holding her-- who knows. I'm still puzzled about how Kayla unclasped the straps and removed her from the swing, but not enough to ask her to show me.

** update-- Kayla got up while I was typing this, and put all her laundry that I had folded in her room (and some away in drawers). After she finished, she said "mom, I want money from your room" (we have a change jar there). I'm hoping this is coincidental, and not that she's asking for money for completing a chore... she's kinda young for that (we have been giving them change to put in their piggy banks, so that's probably what she was reminded of when she put her clothes on the dresser).

Always interesting here...

Ch-Ch-Changes

There's been a big change at the Webber house (drum roll please)....

Matt and Kayla are no longer sucking pacifiers except in their beds (typically at nap/bedtime, although sometimes they choose to lay in bed to have the privilege of time spent with their paci). This is HUGE for Matt and Kayla, but has been going rather well- aside from the occasional whining, they seem to "get" the new system. Since 99% of the time kids teeth are not affected AT ALL from pacifiers until they get permanent teeth, we're not in a huge rush to get rid of them (we wouldn't cut off their thumb if they sucked that)-- but we are trying to limit the pacifier so we can get them talking more etc-- also we do want them to know how to self-soothe). Today Matt was pretty cute trying to tell Julie "no b's (what he calls his pacifier) except in bed"-- I then needed to explain to him that since Julie's a baby, she can have it whenever.

Other than that not much is new. Bible study was cancelled yesterday- so Grandma Sue, Jillian and Brooke came over. Today Dan came by before youth group. I'm gonna cut Peter's hair tonight (did Matt's 2 days ago) and then I'm cleaning the bathroom-- you all envy how fun my life is now, don't you ;)

Well, wouldn't trade it... Until later......

Julie's first friend and more

Today we had a play date, and Julie had her first pint sized friend over :) Emily and Noah (Matt and Kayla's friend came over) and we also invited Heidi and Sasha (Sasha's about 1 month younger than Julie)-- both mom's are friends of mine from church.

The rest of the day was okay for me. I rented a pump from Providence in yet another attempt to up my milk supply. This has been a most frustrating experience-- but what can ya do-- God's growing me somehow through this. Then was the issue of Matt and Kayla this afternoon-- I'm sure that they are trying to drive me to an early death through their behavior lately-- but I got through the day, which is all you can ask for sometimes.

Tomorrow's bible study again-- I'm hoping the snow's not as bad as predicted, so I can attend (and it's not cancelled), and Valentine's day- so we'll probably try to do some fun crafts too. That's all for now.

Monday Madness

I'm really missing warmer weather. Today the kids and I went to the mall and met Anna, Keely and Brendan to play in the play area. We stopped at McDonald's after (with them). The kids sat at their own table (right next to ours) and chatted throughout their meal-- it was pretty funny. We stopped and picked up Matt's nebulizer on the way home- which he HATES (Kayla hid while the machine was one, and came when it ended saying "you okay Matt? that scared me."). He's not coughing right now, so it seems like it may be working.

Tomorrow we're having a play date with friends from church :) We seem to have effectively planned out our renovations to finish our basement and awesome laundry room-- now we just need to see if we have the funds to support it :) Anyway, I'm off to pick up a few more things before hitting the hay-- that is, if Julie permits.

Busy Happenings

First, a disclaimer-- Matt broke my letter "g" off my computer so it take a lot more effort to push it correctly-- so if I'm missing a few "g's" here and there-- my bad.

We've been pretty busy around here. I'm happy to report that two days this week I was out of the house by 10 (one day it was by 9- which is amazinG with three kids-- don't believe me, I'll let you come over and try). While I'm pattinG my own back, I also took all three kids to KroGer's yesterday-- aGain quite the feat ;)

Last weekend we wrapped up Matt and Kayla's birthday celebrations (there were four) with the Superbowl/Jan-Feb birthdays at my Aunt Sandy's and Uncle Kimball's. They just moved so it was nice to see their new place-- it was also Good to see Jay who was in town from Iowa. The next morninG we quickly ran out the door to meet them at the airport to pick up Kayla's two Princess' that we somehow left at my aunts (who lives an hour away-- much further than the airport where they were GoinG to drop Jay off).

I started a woman's bible study this week at Oakpointe. LOVED it! I'm really lookinG forward to attendinG next week. The kids Go to their own class (Julie stays with me-- I'm not even close to beinG able to leave her in the nursery). The study is Gracesotration, and aGain-- it's the bomb (so's the way it's presented-- at least so far after one session). It was amazinG how much the sinGle study was able to help me throuGh the rest of the day (and even week) with the kids).

This afternoon I took Matt to the dr's for the cold that has lasted forever-- only to have him diaGnosed with asthma. Can't wait to Give my enerGetic 3 year old an inhailed stimulant. ToniGht Peter and I went on our first date in forever. We went to dinner at Chili's, and then hit a couple stores:) Very low key, but a Good time.

Tomorrow's Christopher's birthday celebration (happy birthday today) and other than that we'll be cleaninG up and stuff, and tryinG to make plans for our possible sprinG summer projects. Well, I'm off to enjoy the rest of my movie.

Best Friends are the Best

So, this is likely long overdue, but I'm going to do a mushy, I love my best friend post. I have been friends with Janet for about 9 years now- best friends for about that long as well (can't believe it's been that long). It started on a canoe, and has grown ever since :) (It's one of those things you had to be there for). Anyway, as far as friends go, Janet's an A++! I don't even know anyone else who claims to have a friend even 1/2 as good as Janet. Janet's the kind of friend that doesn't get too upset when you don't call, or when you have to go cause kids are screaming. Janet has also found a way to "fit" into our life regardless of the different stages that seem to be constantly changing. She loves my husband for who he is, and how he treats me-- and adores and CRAZY spoils my kids. (Who love her about as much as I do). I could go on for ages about how great she is-- but I don't want people to try to steal her from me...

I miss you and I love ya Janet!

Here's some recent pictures for you (3rd birthday balloons from Janet- and pic of Julie from today).
